Slip Model
of 8 June 2008 Earthquake

Near the town of Andravida, Southwestern of Patra Greece

A strong earthquake of magnitude Mw=6.4 occurred in western Greece near Andravida
on 8 June 2008 (12:25 GMT). The focal mechanism solution showed strike slip type faulting.
The ruptured fault is almost vertical and has a SW-NE direction.

The inversion of teleseismic waves showed that the earthquake had directivity to Northeast.
The calculated slip model revealed more than 1 seismic sources. Coulomb stress analysis
based on : (1) a simplified model of slip and (2) on the calculated slip model, revealed the
regions loaded with stress after the earthquake. The values of stress are not the same
between the two models but the regions where the stress is transferred are the same.
